1.耳朵,来自PIE*ous, 耳朵,进一步来自PIE*au,感知,词源同auricle, audit, aesthete.
2.麦穗,来自词根ac, 尖,刺,词源同acid, acumen.

(but compare Old English earde "having a handle"). To be wet behind the ears "naive" is from 1902, American English. Phrase walls have ears attested from 1610s. French orielle, Spanish oreja are from Latin auricula (Medieval Latin oricula), diminutive of auris.
